Launch of geospatial workforce information network positions Denver region as hub of emerging industry...
The launch of GIWIS (gee-whiz), or the Geospatial Industry Workforce Information System, was held at INVESCO Field at Mile High in Denver, Colo., during the GIS in the Rockies conference. The event is the culmination of a $700,000 U.S. Department of Labor grant received by the Geospatial Information & Technology Association (GITA) and the Association of American Geographers (AAG). The grant supports President Bush’s High Growth Job Training Initiative by forming high-level partnerships to collaboratively develop solutions to meet the workforce challenges and labor shortages facing the geospatial industry... |
