UDMS Announces Step2000 Release 6.0...

(UDMS). Included in this list of enhancements is the advent of "script procedures," or sub-routines. Step2000 offers an industry-leading technology for rapid application development, and this new feature allows developers to generate workflows even faster. Along with this enhancement is a "script validator." This developer-invoked utility provides for rapid script debugging and helps developers decrease script errors by detecting them earlier. A multi-developer project model is also included in Release 6.0, allowing application forms (screens) to be managed in separate source files. Now, it is even easier to develop/deploy/maintain multiple applications or an application developed by more than one developer. Extending Step2000's Web deployment is a feature to "preview" the Web form generated from within Step2000's Application Builder. This "preview" offers six modes of viewing, including interfaces to Netscape's Communicator and Microsoft's Internet Explorer browsers. Step2000's Web option is now available for Microsoft's Internet Information Server, along with the previous support for Netscape's Enterprise Server. A number of GUI performance enhancements have been made, along with a number of new script events to facilitate in-memory sorting of query results and new directory and printer selection dialogs.
